What to know: Is it the NBA Finals that anyone anticipated? Probably not, at least when it comes to the Eastern Conference. The Thunder finished the regular season with the best record in the league and compiled a 12-4 record in the West playoffs, with three of those losses coming at the hands of Denver. As for Indy, it entered the East playoffs as the No. 4 seed but didn't play like it, also going 12-4 through three series to make it to the Finals. Now it is guaranteed that one team will win its first NBA title.
The Finals have been nothing short of exciting, as the Pacers staved off elimination to force a Game 7. The league's MVP, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, entered Game 6 averaging 32.4 points in the Finals but finished with just 21 points. Pacers star Tyrese Haliburton, who is dealing with leg issues, managed to score 14 points, along with five assists and two steals. The Thunder committed 21 turnovers in Game 6, including eight by SGA, which is his postseason career high.
For the first time in nearly a decade, the NBA Finals have reached a Game 7.
