With Trump's 2024 presidential win, he became the second in history to win non-consecutive terms. The first to do so was Grover Cleveland, the 22nd and 24th president of the United States.
During his first run for office, Trump, a real estate developer and reality TV host, was successful in defeating Hillary Clinton for the White House. Trump lost the popular vote, but won the Electoral College, giving him his first presidential win.
The 2020 presidential election ended in defeat for Trump. He lost his bid for re-election to the Democratic challenger, President Joe Biden.

In July 2024, Trump announced Ohio Senator JD Vance as his running mate. Issues like the economy and border security were ones the Republicans heavily focused on during their pitch to the American people.
Trump was victorious against Vice President Kamala Harris in the 2024 presidential election, winning the popular vote and electoral college to regain his position as POTUS.
