Regular Season MVP 2025-26
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Thunder: +200
What to know: The reigning MVP is the favorite with the season underway. He received 71 first-place votes after a regular season in which his 32.7 points per game led the league in scoring. He became the third player in the franchise's history to win MVP. Kevin Durant (2013-14) and Russell Westbrook (2016-17) are the other two Thunder players to take home this hardware. SGA also won Finals MVP at the conclusion of last season. The Thunder are 5-0 to start the season, despite Jalen Williams missing all five games due to injury and Chet Holmgren missing one game. Through those five games, SGA is averaging 34.8 points, 6.2 rebounds and 5.4 assists.
Victor Wembanyama, Spurs: +275
What to know: Is this the year that Wemby takes over? He missed 36 games last year due to injury, but in the 46 games he did play, he averaged 24.3 points, 11 rebounds and a league-leading 3.8 blocks. It was his second consecutive season leading the league in total blocks and blocks per game. The Spurs are 4-0 to start the year and Wemby has been unbelievable. He's averaging 31 points on 60.8% shooting, along with 13.8 rebounds and 4.8 blocks. Defensive Player of the Year feels like a foregone conclusion. And now, MVP is on the table as well.
Nikola Jokić, Nuggets: +350
What to know: Jokić opened the offseason as the favorite at +200, but has now shifted to third. The three-time MVP finished last regular season averaging 29.6 points (third in the NBA), 12.7 rebounds (third) and 10.2 assists (second). He finished second in MVP voting behind Gilgeous-Alexander. This season, the Joker has three triple-doubles in three games for the 2-1 Nuggets, and leading the league in both rebounds (15.3) and assists (11.7).
Luka Dončić, Lakers: +600
What to know: The Lakers began the season without LeBron James (back), losing their season-opener to the Warriors. However, a fit-looking Dončić had 43 points, 12 rebounds and nine assists in the defeat. In their second game, Dončić put up 49 points, 11 rebounds and eight assists in a win over Minnesota. Sheesh. However, finger and leg injuries will have Dončić sidelined for a week.
Giannis Antetokounmpo, Bucks: +1000
What to know: Milwaukee's Antetokounmpo opened the offseason at +700. He didn't receive any first- or second-place votes in last season's voting but did rack up 88 third-place votes. His 30.4 PPG ranked second in the NBA in scoring last year. Through four games, the Bucks are 3-1 and the Greek Freak is averaging 36.3 points, 14 rebounds and seven assists. He has games of 37, 31, 40 and 37. Don't sleep on the two-time MVP.
