New England Patriots: What to know about the NFL team

The New England Patriots are one of the most successful teams in the NFL, tied with the Pittsburgh Steelers for the most Super Bowl wins in history, with six. All six of the Patriots' Super Bowl victories were achieved with Bill Belichick as the head coach and Tom Brady as the quarterback.

The Patriots were one of the original teams in the American Football League (AFL), founded as the Boston Patriots in 1959. They became the New England Patriots in 1971. The team's home base is in Foxborough, Massachusetts, where they play their home games at Gillette Stadium.

The Patriots' dynasty lasted many years, with Belichick and Brady leading the team to become the one to beat. The team holds the record for the most Super Bowl appearances, with 11. Since Brady left for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and retired shortly thereafter, the Patriots have been working to rebuild.

The team has been owned by Robert Kraft since 1994. They are coached by former Patriot player Mike Vrabel, and the young Drake Maye is the team's quarterback.
